Strongly operating against biodegradable constituents

An aerator is an impeller in the biological part of a sewage treatment plant. It swirls the surface of the water so that it is enriched with oxygen. This activates the bacteria, so that the biodegradable constituents are removed from the sludge.

The agitator is suspended at a distance from the gear unit output shaft, which extends vertically downwards. To reduce the risk of gear oil entering the wastewater being treated, FLENDER gear units have an output shaft equipped with an oil retaining tube and a non-contact shaft seal.

The axial and radial forces arising from the process are absorbed by output shafts and bearings designed for high loads.
