Next.Gen.Wind

Next-Generation Wind Powertrain Production for Europe's Energy Transition

Next.Gen.Wind establishes renewable manufacturing capabilities for next-generation powertrains for multi-megawatt onshore and offshore wind turbines. These critical components convert rotor rotation into electricity and are designed to be more powerful, efficient, and resource-conscious than current solutions.

Key Features

  • Compact, fully integrated design reducing weight and material use
  • Up to 99.82% reduction in relative GHG emissions vs. reference scenario
  • Significantly reduced critical raw materials (copper, rare earth minerals)
  • Sustainable manufacturing facility with direct water access
  • Specialized test benches for full powertrain validation

Next.Gen.Wind supports the EU's renewable energy target and aims to address critical capacity gaps in the wind energy supply chain by the end of the decade.

Project Status

The Grant Agreement with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has been signed, and the project has officially commenced.

Milestones, updates and public materials will be published on this page.
